The Chairman of the Municipal Council said that he

had time to consider the amendment fully but thought that

the cost would be about the same as the figure stated for

the engaging of Sikh police. The addition of a foreign

inspector would double that amount.

Mr. de Courcy asked if the Hongkong Government would co-operate with the Council in securing additional police?

The Chairman of the Lunicipal Council: I am sure

that we shall have their full support.

There being no further discussion on the amendment,

the amendment was put to the meeting and carried.

H.B.M. Consul-General: That being so Resolutions

2b and 2c will not now be put to the meeting.

Proposed resolution 2b is given above. Proposed

resolution 2c was as follows:

"That this special general meeting of ratepayers sanctions the purchasing and installing of a bur- glar-proof fence around the Concession, with gates where required, at a capital expenditure of #27,500

to be collected at once as an extra tax divided

equally between house and land and requiring a rate of 2.8478 per cent. for house tax and .3158 per

cent. for land tax".

The amendment was then put to the meeting as a

substantive resolution and carried.

H.B.M. Consul-General then read out Resolution No.3.

"That this Special General Meeting of Ratepayers sanctions the raising of funds for the provision of better telephone
